The next-gen Ford Focus RS is currently in production and it is due to make a global debut at the end of this year. However, there are rumours that claim the Focus RS won’t be enjoying a home debut due to the availability of the Lincoln MKC and the Mustang.
Both performance vehicles are owned by Ford and they are powered by the EcoBoost engine. Even so, we don’t expect bad business decisions to stop Ford from launching the Focus RS in the US and here’s why.
For starters, it is because of the Focus badge. The Focus is one of the bestselling cars in the world and this success has made it into America’s golden product. With Ford’s patriotism, they cannot deny the Americans from getting the best Focus of them all.
Besides, not launching the Focus RS will be bad for Ford’s image as it will show the carmaker as a firm that makes decision based on business forecasts. Ford wants to stamp its identity as a passionate carmaker and to do so, they will have to launch the Focus RS in the US regardless of the overcrowded performance segment.
When the Focus RS arrives, it will be powered by an all-new 2.3L EcoBoost engine that has a whopping 350hp to offer. The Focus RS will also sit above the ST-trim and it will compete with the recently launched Honda Civic Type-R.
