At the end of this year, Ford will be launching a new generation of Ford Focus and they will also be adding an RS variant in the mix. The top-of-the-range Focus is expected to run on the newly developed 2.3L EcoBoost engine which generates a whopping 350hp.
While it all sounds exciting, rumours are rife in claiming that the Focus RS will miss out on a local release. In other words, Ford will not launch the Focus RS here in the US. The rumours claim that Ford has already got the EcoBoost-powered Lincoln MKC and Mustangs as their performance cars.
Well, we believe that the rumours are half-right on this one. While it might be a bad business decision to launch yet another performance vehicle, the Focus RS will still make its debut here in the US.
Ford has got a long history in launching unneeded vehicles and we don’t expect that to change for the Focus RS. Besides, this is the highly popular Focus and there is no way for the RS trim to get sanctioned from a local release.
Of course, our opinion on this is based on logical thinking and we don’t have any concrete evidence to back it up. Regardless, fans of the Focus here in the US should keep their faith in Ford and expect the Focus RS to get launched here.
