The Ford Focus ST might be a powerful hatchback but there is an even more powerful trim that is due to arrive next year and it is the Focus RS. Like the last Focus RS, this upcoming model will look to enhance the hatchback’s capabilities as it will be coming with a brand new engine and tons of new technologies.
While Ford has yet to reveal anything specific with the future Focus RS, car enthusiasts can expect the vehicle to run on the latest 2.3L EcoBoost engine with 350hp to offer. Then again, such a rig has attracted negative rumours suggesting that the Focus RS won’t be released here in the US.
This is basically because Ford has already got its hand full with the Lincoln MKC and the Mustang for its performance vehicles. Both cars are powered by the EcoBoost engine and there seems to be no need for the Focus RS to join the line. In other words, releasing the Focus RS will be bad for business.
Of course, rumours are still rumours and they are best taken with a pinch of salt. Ford has been relatively aggressive in its home market and this is evident with the large number of unnecessary vehicles that were launched by the carmaker in recent years.
Besides, this is the Focus RS and not releasing it in the US will be a grave mistake. The sports hatch will surely be welcomed by Americans nationwide as they look to compete with the best of Europe and that is the Volkswagen Golf GTi.
