The Ford Focus has long served the masses as one of the most reliable and practical cars around. Just when we thought that the latest Focus ST is the best that Ford has to offer, the American carmaker announced yesterday on the Focus RS.
This upcoming vehicle will be powered by a 2.3L EcoBoost engine that has 350hp to offer. While it all sounds exciting, rumours are indicating that the next-gen Focus RS won’t be getting released here in the US.
The rumours are pointing out that this is because Ford has already got the EcoBoost-powered Mustang and Lincoln MKC. As such, introducing the Focus RS will only be a mistake due to the overcrowded performance segment.
On the other hand, we feel that the rumours are wrong. Ford has been really aggressive in the home market and they have been launching countless vehicles despite of the poor sales prospect. We expect Ford to treat the Focus RS similarly.
In the worst possible scenario, Ford will result to offering the Focus RS in limited numbers for the local US market. Either way, there is simply no chance for the Focus RS to miss out on a local debut.
