It is no secret that Ford is currently producing the Focus RS. The sports hatch will be powered by a new 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine that will produce 350hp on the AWD system. Thus, the Focus RS will be seating above the Focus ST.
As exciting as that sounds, the Focus RS is unfortunately in doubts to make its debut here in the US. Market analysts are suggesting so due to the availability of the Lincoln MKC and the EcoBoost-powered Ford Mustang. Adding the Focus RS into the frame will make the segment overpopulated.
Looking at Ford’s behaviour, however, the carmaker couldn’t care less about that and will surely launch the Focus RS worldwide, including the US. Ford has been very aggressive over the past decade, hence, making it more likely for the Focus RS to enjoy a home ground release.
Of course, it is still too early to judge. Perhaps, Ford will turn the Focus RS into a limited edition model instead of mass producing it. On the other hand, Ford could utilize the unpopular made-to-order method. Either way, we believe that there is no stopping the Focus RS from coming to the US.
