It seems that many car junkies have missed out on a car that is currently being produced by Chevrolet. This couldn’t be helped as when it comes to Chevy, all the attention is on the next-gen Camaro.
The vehicle we are speaking of is the Chevrolet SS that is due in 2016. This upcoming vehicle is expected to do one better than its predecessor and will be a revolutionary RWD car.
Even so, there is still nothing concrete for the Chevrolet SS. The latest word is that the car is going to be an Alpha-based model. If this is to happen, then the SS will be something really light for a sports car.
With that in mind, there are many possible powertrains that fits the SS perfectly. The options range from the 272-hp 2.0-liter turbo used in the Cadillac ATS and CTS to the 6.2-liter V-8 used in the ’14 Corvette.
Picking the latter will surely turn the SS into a massive oil sucker, which is pretty bad in this hard financial time. As such, we believe it to be the 2L turbocharged. The smaller engine capacity will surely offer more fuel economy while not jeopardizing power one bit.
Perhaps, it is still too early to be certain. As mentioned before, the Chevrolet SS is tipped to arrive in 2016. We can expect to hear more details on the sports car from next year on.
