Earlier this year, we discussed on how the new ATS platform will improve on the performance of the next-gen Camaro through cutting its weight. Not long later, new spy shots of the sports car got leaked online and it confirms that the Camaro will be smaller than before.
Obviously, the smaller structure and measurement suggests on a lighter Camaro coming soon. Now, Chevrolet has finally broken their silence when they revealed that the Camaro will be 200 pounds lighter than the previous model. So instead of weighing at about 3,700 pounds, the Camaro will be lighter at 3,500 pounds.
This is a massive weight being cut from the previous Camaro and it will surely aid in boosting the performance of the next-gen model. Chevrolet shared that they utilized “an intricate, structurally optimized design made with a rigid composite material that’s even lighter than aluminum.”
The next-gen Chevrolet Camaro is confirmed to be making its full official debut on May 16 this year and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the car.
