The Cadillac ATS and CTS get ‘new’ buddy – the 2.6-liter V6. Similar to the V8 in CTS-V and Escalade, it has cylinder-deactivation technology to lessen it down to a four-pot under lighter loads, and automatic stop/start with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new engine uses less fuel, makes less noise, and gives higher output.
Furthermore, the new, more powerful engine gets a slight modification with the 321 horsepower and 275 lb-ft gathered by the unit it replaces. It now comes with 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. Even so, what is good about the new V6 is that it better in carbon emissions and fuel economy.
Future buyer of the Cadillac ATS and CTS who choose to go for the higher efficiency 2.5-liter incline-four or the 2.0-liter turbo four. Whereas those who go for the performance will be excited by the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 in the Cadillac ATS-V or CTS Vsport, or even better, the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 in the Cadillac CTS-V.
Though the only difference with the new V6 and the previous one is that it gets an improved performance, but the customers who are looking for the best of everything will be delighted by the better-quality V6 and 8-speed gearbox of the Cadillac.
