2015 Toyota 4Runner 4WD System Engage Works When Mobile

Just last month, Toyota updated the 4Runner with a brand new model and it comes with a new look, more power and more technologies. The large SUV is built on the 4WD architecture and it appealed to many consumers.

On the downside of things, most 4Runner drivers are having trouble adapting themselves with the vehicle. This is due to the new-looking interior that house many new features and functions. On the other hand, drivers are confused on if they are able to toggle the driving system when moving.

Well, our Toyota expert did some checking and the answer is yes. The 4Runner’s 4WD mechanism is an on demand system. This means that drivers can engage into full four-wheel drive from two-wheel drive while moving.

However, it is not a straightforward task. Some rulings have to be observed before performing a switch between 4WD and 2WD. First, the 4Runner has to be in Neutral prior to the switch. Also, the speed of the 4Runner must not be above 80km/h. Once these terms are met, drivers can tap on the button and see the car engaging into either 4WD or 2WD.

In some occasions, drivers might fail to realize that they are traveling at 100km/h or more. This will cause an error which prevents the driver from engaging 4WD system. The solution is simple. Slow down to 80km/h and turn off the error lights before attempting to engage 4WD.
