Last week, a bizarre standing quarter-mile race took place and it involved the latest Subaru WRX STI and the 2014 Porsche Cayman. The term bizarre was used because it is rare for the race organizer to pit up two different segments against each other.
In detail, the WRX STI belongs to the sports sedan segment and is powered by a 2.5L turbocharged F4 engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This allows it to generate 305hp and 290lb-fts of torque. The WRX STI retails $38,190 and is certainly a powerful beast.
On the other corner, there is the luxury roadster that goes by the name of the Porsche Cayman. The German car runs on a 2.7L F6 engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, thus, developing 275hp and 213lb-ft of torque. Retailing at $70,160, the Cayman is definitely not a joke.
If the race is to be held on papers, then the figure above proves that the WRX STI is the winner despite it being cheaper. Then again, the race is not based on papers and it is best for you to check the video above to know the result.
Trust us when we say that there are a lot of surprises in the minute and a half-long clip above. In short, you will be amazed by the result!
