2015 Subaru WRX STI vs 2014 Porsche Cayman: Standing Quarter Mile Reveals It All

You read the title right. Both the newly-released Subaru WRX STI and the Porsche Cayman have participated in a standing quarter mile drag race against each other. Both performance vehicles are great but the fact that they belong in two different segments made it more interesting.

On papers, it somehow looks like the Subaru WRX STI is the winner. After all, the car is powered by a 2.5L turbocharged F4 engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This allows it to generate 305hp and 290lb-fts of torque. The figures alone are more impressive than the Cayman.

For the latter, it is towed by a 2.7L F6 engine that is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Despite the larger engine capacity, it only develops 275hp and 213lb-ft of torque. Then again, the Cayman is lighter as it weighs only 3059lbs.

While the drag race might not carry any significance, car junkies would love to see on how a $38,190 commoner’s sports car fare against the $70,160 luxury roadster. As much as we want to reveal the result, it is best for you to find out for yourself. Trust us when we say that the race is full of surprises.
