China is in for a treat as they are about to welcome a totally different Subaru Outback Facelift on their roads. The SUV will not be anything like the ones in other countries as Subaru equips the Outback Facelift with a new engine, specifically for the Chinese market.
Subaru went into detail by confirming that it is a 2L turbocharged Boxer engine. Obviously, the engine capacity has shrunk from the 2.5L Boxer engine that was offered with the Subaru Outback Facelift outside of China.
The 2L turbocharged engine is also understood to be the one that powers the 2015 WRX S4. The latter is exclusive only for the Japanese market and it confirms that power output figures stands at 221kW with 400Nm of torque. Furthermore, the smaller capacity mill ensures better fuel efficiency with an average rating of 32mpg.
While the sudden change in engine might be a big surprise to car junkies, it also teases the future XV Crosstrek Facelift. The latter is expected to be the next big thing to come from Subaru and it is only fitting for it to come with the same set of powertrain.
