Both the latest Subaru Outback and the Subaru Legacy had just completed the safety test from NHTSA and they did extremely well. In short, the Outback and the Legacy scored five stars. In other words, both vehicles scored an ‘A’.
What surprised us is the Subaru Outback. The SUV has just been refreshed and it is part of the Subaru MY2015 line-up. Despite sharing the same platform with other vehicles, it managed to bag 5-stars which the others have missed out on.
NHTSA went into detail with the result by claiming that the Outback did superbly in the front crash test. However, there is one section where it didn’t bag full marks and it is with the vehicle’s body roll which only got a four star rating.
Well, there is no need to be harsh towards the Outback as it cannot be helped. The body rolls are justified by the height and balance of the car. Taking all the other results into account, earning 4 stars for body roll is definitely forgivable.
When on the road, customers can enjoy the entire safety package on the Subaru Outback if the purchase it with the optional EyeSight option. The latter will add in lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alerts, auto-braking system and also, blind spot monitoring.
