The next-gen Renault E-Space is due to arrive in April next-month and the vehicle is probably going to be the world’s most fuel efficient family MPV in history. This was teased by Renault when they pull the curtains off the E-Space at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show.
Speaking to the masses, Renault claims that they have managed to reduce the weight of the E-Space by 250kg. Together with the newly developed engines, the E-Space is now 20% more fuel efficient than before.
In detail, the E-Space will be offered with two different engine options. The first is a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine that develops 200PS and 260Nm of torque while also returning 6.2L/100km.
The second engine is a 1.6L turbocharged diesel and this particular motor has two different tunes. One will develop 130PS and 320Nm of torque while the other generates 160PS and 380Nm of torque. Both tunes return 4.5l/100km and 4.7l/100km respectively.
This is some massive accomplishments from Renault’s end as the E-Space is truly an economical yet powerful family MPV. The achievement is partly owed to the newly developed 7-speed EDC dual-clutch transmission. Then again, the 130PS diesel is only offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
