In a matter of weeks from now, Nissan will be launching the all-new Xterra here in the US and the carmaker from Japan also claims that it will be the last of its kind. In other words, there won’t be any further updates to the Xterra following the launching of this upcoming model.
It is also worth noting that the decision was made solely for the US market. Nissan felt that the Xterra is struggling in sales and with the strict automotive laws here in the US, the manufacturer see no further need on upgrading the vehicle’s safety and emissions equipment.
This is unfortunate as the Xterra is rated highly in our books. It is also the most challenging rival for the Jeep Wrangler to compete with. The upcoming Xterra comes with a 4L V6 engine that generates 261hp and it returns a disappointing fuel consumption rate of 15mpg city and 20mpg highway.
Of course, there is still a chance for the Xterra to extend its stay here in the US and this is if sales of the upcoming 2015 model exceed the expectation of Nissan. Then again, this seems unlikely to happen at all.
