The Nissan 370Z is without a doubt one of the best roadsters in the world and this year, it will get updated with a brand new model. However, Nissan has teased that the soon-to-arrive successor won’t be coming with the same name.
In detail, the Japanese carmaker revealed that the future roadster will come with different numeric but the Z will remain intact to know which family it belongs to. The changes are with the numbers, which on the other hand is used to reflect on the car’s engine capacity.
For example, the 370 in 370Z represents a 3.7L V6 engine. Now that Nissan has tipped the upcoming roadster to come with a smaller engine capacity, the digits will have to be renamed too. If it is a 2.7L engine, then the future Z will be a 270Z.
Of course, power will not be sacrificed in the process of downsizing. Nissan has promised that the smaller engine will still be as powerful as the 3.7L variant and it will also make the new Z cheaper to run.
