75 automotive journalists from 22 different countries were present at the annual New York Auto Show yesterday to announce the winner of the 2014 World Car of the Year award and it is the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which came out on top.
The C-Class was named as the winner, ahead of the two other finalist vehicles – the Volkswagen Passat and the Ford Mustang. This is not surprising as the C-Class single-handedly raised the bar in the automotive industry despite it being a luxurious compact sedan.
The jury quoted that the C-Class “delivers levels of refinement, luxury, safety, ride and handling that challenge best-in-class” and this has led the car to victory. Of course, credits belong to Mercedes for developing the new all-aluminium/steel hybrid platform and features brought over from the S-Class.
