Late last year, Lexus launched the all-new NX and the vehicle came out with a highly futuristic styling that only few can accept. For the NX haters, they kept saying that the latest Audi Q5 is the better luxury crossover. This has prompted us to compare both vehicles and find out which is better.
Priced at about £39,170, the Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI quattro S line Plus is slightly more expensive than the £38,095 Lexus NX 200t F Sport. The German-made crossover is powered by a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that is mated to an 8-speed triptronic gearbox while being driven on the 4WD system.
In figures, the Q5 generates a decent 222hp and 350Nm of torque. This allows it to sprint from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and there is a top speed of 138mph for drivers to toy with. Even with a turbocharged motor, the Q5 is not fuel savvy as it only returns an average of 29.5mpg.
The Lexus NX 200t F Sport, on the other hand, is powered by a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and this is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox while being driven on 4WD. The engine basically allows the NX to generate 235hp and 350Nm of torque.
In terms of performance, the NX F Sport is able to sprint from 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds. This is slightly slower than the Audi Q5 but this is due to the latter’s better aerodynamics. The NX 200t has a top speed of 124hp and it returns an average fuel consumption of 26.2mpg.
Judging from the specs above, it seems that the car junkies are right. The latest Audi Q5 is simply the better crossover than the Lexus NX. Even so, the NX is not far away from being on the same level with the Q5 and this is something car junkies should note about.
