Kia has just launched the all-new Picanto Facelift and like the previous model, this latest hatchback looks pretty. Then again, there aren’t a lot of design changes on the facelifted Picanto. The changes are limited to the slightly longer headlamps and the redesigned rear bumper.
Inside the vehicle, Kia is offering more colour options for the Picanto. Unfortunately for us, the model we tested on came with a black interior which is dull and dark.
Then again, the depressing interior can be forgiven as the Picanto is now equipped with auto lights, electric windows, electric mirrors, an infotainment system with Bluetooth support, park sensors and hill-assist start.
Being a small hatchback, space can be an issue. Then again, the Picanto boasts a 200L boot space which buyers will appreciate.
Also, the Picanto offers a pleasant driving experience. The 1L 3-cylinder engine that packs a mere 67hp and 95Nm of torque performed efficiently and quietly. However, we were frustrated by the lack of power with the Picanto, particularly on the freeway. The handling too is horrible with the steering coming in hard an unresponsive.
On the bright side of things, the Picanto returns an average of 55mpg when we tested the car. This is definitely the pull factor but not enough to convince us to purchase one.
