Come next year, Kia will be releasing the all-new Optima and it is going to be totally different from its predecessor. For the first time in the car’s history, the Optima will not be coming with a pure petrol mill.
Instead, Kia will be offering the Optima with a choice of either a plug-in hybrid engine or a diesel engine. Of course, the Korean carmaker has yet to reveal on the details of the motors but we can expect the diesel to be a 1.7L CRDi motor. Furthermore, Kia’s head of overseas marketing, Spencer Choo, teased on the possibility of a diesel-electric hybrid mil coming in the future.
Design-wise, the Optima will sport a new design language. Despite that fact, we find it to be a lot similar to the existing model. The changes are with the tiger nose grille in the front, which merges with the headlight to form a line. Also, the bumper will now have a sharper set of intakes, which rests under a blanked out grille.
Inside the Optima, Kia has equipped it with a newly designed leather seats. The center dash is where the widescreen display will be installed.
