Last December saw the arrival of two new compact SUVs and they are the Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade. Today, however, it seems that the former is selling much better than the latter.
This is basically because of the fact that the HR-V is built to be reliable and practical for general use. The compact SUV from Honda is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that is paired to a CVT transmission. This basically ensures that the HR-V is both powerful and fuel economical at the same time.
To complete the package, Honda made the HR-V to be sophisticated with the latest automotive technologies around. The Japanese carmaker comes completed with a multi-purpose steering wheel that comes with audio controls, cruise control, phone control and steering wheel adjustments.
As for the Jeep Renegade, many consumers are put off by its high fuel consuming rate. The 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission is simply not great for general use.
Furthermore, the Renegade is somewhat limited as it only excels on the off-roading department. When engaged in 4WD, the Renegade will turn into a beast as it is able to climb mountains and cross river streams with ease.
Obviously, not everyone has a passion for off-roading. As such, this makes the Jeep Renegade less popular than the Honda HR-V.
