Both the Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade are two of the latest compact SUVs in the market today. While they might be built to dominate the trendy segment, both vehicles are actually tailored for different purposes. Today, we shall see which is better?
Looking at the HR-V, it is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine, mated to a CVT transmission. This allows the vehicle to generate 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque. The Renegade, on the other hand, has a smaller 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Clearly, both set of engines are meant for different uses. The HR-V, in particular, is built for the streets and highways. The compact SUV is simply reliable, powerful and economical, thus, making it a great family car.
In addition to that, the HR-V has so many features to offer like air filtration, front air conditioning, audio controls on the steering wheel along with cruise control, phone control and steering wheel adjustments ensures that comfort is not absent in its offering.
As for the Renegade, consumers shouldn’t be deceived by its stylish gentle look as the vehicle is a beast inside. Jeep has equipped the Renegade with the company’s hallmark off-road technology, which makes the Renegade a monster when driven on the dirt trails.
While the Renegade might sound more exciting, it is not a fuel saver at all. Furthermore, the Renegade is not favoured by many since majority of road users are not fans of off-road adventures. Even if they are, it is not like they wish to climb mountains on a daily basis.
With that being said, we have to name the Honda HR-V as the winner in this contest. However, it is wrong to view the Jeep Renegade as a useless car.
