A couple of months ago, the world witnessed the arrival of the all-new Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade. Both compact crossovers are built to dominate the highly popular segment but they are tailored for different purposes. Today, we shall explore on which SUV is better?
The Renegade, in particular, is powered by a 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Honda HR-V, on the other hand, is towed by a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine mated to a CVT transmission. The latter generates 170hp and 106ft-lbs.
Then again, the HR-V is limited to on-road usage. The compact crossover makes a perfect city or family car since it is aimed at reliability and efficiency.
Furthermore, the fact that the HR-V is completed with features like air filtration, front air conditioning, audio controls on the steering wheel along with cruise control, phone control and steering wheel adjustments ensures that comfort is not absent in its offering.
The Renegade does not have the privilege of having so many features and functions but it does come with Jeep’s hallmark off-road technology. In other words, the Renegade is a good looking off-road monster that is capable of climbing a mountain or crossing rivers.
Both the Jeep Renegade and the Honda HR-V are great vehicles but we have to side with the latter. It is not because the Renegade is bad but instead; it is due to the off-road market which only appeals to a small percentage of car junkies. Most car lovers are looking for efficiency in vehicles.
