2015 Honda HR-V vs Jeep Renegade: Same Segment, Different Targets

The compact SUV segment is full of great vehicles and among them are the latest Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade. Then again, both vehicles do not share a common motoring interest and this is something consumers need to be aware of.

The Honda HR-V, in particular, is built to be a fuel economical vehicle that is fit for general use. It is powered by the 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that develops 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission which completes the HR-V as an ultimate fuel saver.

The Jeep Renegade, on the other hand, runs on a 1.4L turbocharged engine that is mated to a 6-speed transmission. Considering that the Renegade runs on 4WD and also weighs heavily, the vehicle is clear not a fuel saver.

Regardless, the Renegade comes with Jeep’s off-roading mechanism which is not available on other compact SUVs. In other words, the Renegade is the only car in the entire segment that has the ability to climb mountains and cross rivers.

With that being said, it is clear now that both the Jeep Renegade and the Honda HR-V are two different vehicles.
