Both the Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade are two of the latest compact SUVs in the market right now but they are at different ends in the sales chart. Apparently, the HR-V has been selling extremely well whereas the Renegade is not.
For us, this is not surprising as the HR-V is equipped with a fine 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that develops 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque. Completed with a CVT transmission, the HR-V is economical too. Apparently, this is something that consumers want; a reliable, affordable and practical daily SUV.
Jeep has failed to identify the core demands of the consumers and this has led to them losing out on the sales front. Looking at the Renegade, it is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Aside from its beauty, the only special thing about the Renegade is with the 4WD system. When engaged, the Renegade turns to a hill-climbing and mud gliding beast. Then again, not everyone is a fan of off-roading and with the fact that the Renegade is not economical, sales have been hit bad.
