Both the latest Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade shares many similarities with one another and this is not surprising as the vehicles belong in the same compact SUV segment. But when it comes to differences, it is with the Honda HR-V and Jeep Renegade sales target.
Starting with the Jeep Renegade, it is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle also features Jeep’s hallmark 4WD technology which allows the Renegade to be the king on the off-road terrain. The downside to the Renegade is that it is not a fuel-savvy SUV.
Then there is the Honda HR-V which does not even feature off-road technology. Instead, the vehicle from Honda is towed by a simple 1.5L 4-cylinder motor that is mated to a CVT transmission. Such a rig spells fuel efficiency everywhere but it is a mistake to view the HR-V as a weak vehicle. Affordability aside, the HR-V’s powertrain is able to develop 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque.
Apparently, that is the one and only difference between the HR-V and the Renegade which consumers should take note of. If they are looking for a practical and reliable compact SUV, it is best to get the HR-V. If off-roading is a criteria, then the Renegade is the better option.
