2015 Honda HR-V vs Jeep Renegade: Apples vs Oranges

The Honda HR-V and the Jeep Renegade are two of the most vehicles in the world right now. Both models were made to compete in the compact SUV segment but they both have different things to offer.

The HR-V, in particular, is powered by the 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that produces 170hp and 106ft-lbs of torque. The engine is paired to a CVT transmission thus, ensuring that the HR-V has a competitive fuel economy that does not sacrifice power one bit.

Clearly, this also means that the HR-V makes a great city or family car. It is affordable, cheap to run and also comfortable at the same time. To complete the package, Honda offers the HR-V with air filtration, front air-condition and a multi-purpose steering wheel that is completed with audio controls, cruise control, phone control as well as steering wheel adjustments.

Amazingly, the Jeep Renegade can be described as a vehicle that is the antonym of the HR-V. The Renegade is powered by a 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Such a rig can be a fuel drainer but it does make the Renegade a great cruiser on the tar mats.

Then again, the Renegade don’t actually belong on the roads. Despite the gentler look and more sophisticated interior, the Renegade is still an off-road beast, like how it is with other Jeep vehicles. The Renegade basically comes with Jeep’s 4WD system that allows it to tackle mountains and dirt tracks with ease.
