All the suspense is now over after Honda finally unveils the finalized Civic Type-R. The highly anticipated sports hatch is powered by a newly-developed 2L turbocharged VTEC engine that develops 310PS and 400Nm of torque.
In figures, the Civic Type-R has the ability to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds and there is a strong top-speed of 167mph. Heck, the hatchback is currently the fastest FWD vehicle to ever race at the Nurnbergring.
Of course, the Civic Type-R will also see the return of the hallmark R+ button. When the latter is activated, drivers will experience a burst in torque delivery, increased engine response, stiffer dampers by 30% and reduced steering assist.
Unfortunately though, things do not translate well for the Type-R’s design. Many were hoping for something extraordinary but the Civic Type-R ended up lacking that wow factor most other sports car has.
Perhaps, if Honda is to apply devil tail lights for the Civic Type-R, it could have look so much better. Then again, it is too late for changes.
