Ford has confirmed that they will be releasing the next-generation F-150 in a matter of months from now and it is already revealed that the vehicle since it is built with aluminium. Now, we have more information on the F-150 after Ford announces on the engine options that will come with it.
It was revealed earlier today that the pickup truck will be offered with a 3.5L V-6 engine and a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine. The former generates 283hp and 255ft-lbs of torque while the latter generates a whopping 325hp and 375ft-lbs.
Unfortunately there isn’t a diesel powertrain offered with the F-150. Then again, there is no need for it since the EcoBoost has got efficiency covered. Ford did a comparison of the latter with the 5.3L V-8 on the Chevrolet Silverado, the 3L turbocharged V-6 on the RAM and the 2.7L four-cylinder engine on the Toyota Tacoma. The results were impressive.
Aside from being more powerful than its rivals, the EcoBoost V6 is also more efficient than the diesel mills. Of course, Ford is still pending to release the consumption figures but we can expect it to arrive soon.
With the EcoBoost technology, the upcoming Ford F-150 is going to be the most powerful pickup truck in history. Furthermore, the fact that it is lightweight makes it ideal for the consumers.
