The next-generation Ford F-150 is only months away from its launching and it is expected to be a revolutionary in the pickup truck segment. This is because the pickup truck is going to be the first of its kind, to have an aluminium body.
In other words, the F-150 is going to offer so much power and better fuel economy. Yesterday, we received more details on the engines that will be offered with the Ford F-150. It is revealed that the vehicle will be powered by the all-new 2.7L EcoBoost V6.
The powerful mill is said to generate a whopping 325hp and 375ft-lbs of torque. Ford then rubbishes the rumours on a diesel engine coming with the F-150. The American carmaker then compared the EcoBoost V6 with the 5.3L V8 diesel engine on the Chevrolet Silverado and the turbocharged diesel V6 which powers the RAM 1500.
By far, the EcoBoost V6 on the Ford F-150 has more power than its diesel counterpart. Furthermore, the petrol engine is so efficient that its fuel consumption equals, if not, better those diesel motors.
Of course, no figures have been revealed by Ford but we can expect that to get announced when the F-150 is weeks away from its launching. The only thing that worries us is the aluminium structure. Is it durable?
