We are days away from the annual SEMA auto show and the major motoring event will set up the stage for many new interesting concepts. Among them is the Cheverolet Colorado, which is about to get a performance model released early next year.
Earlier today, Chevy teased on the details of the Colorado Performance by claiming that it is a project that is developed with motocross racer, Ricky Carmichael. Chevrolet quoted the vehicle as something to “illustrate the lifestyle-supporting capability” of a pickup truck.
True to its description, the Chevrolet Colorado Performance concept will come equipped with a tailgate extender for securing bikes. This will free up the bed space for bulkier items like boards and kayaks.
Aside from that, the vehicle will still be based on the 2015MY Colorado which was released a month ago. This means that the concept will also feature a bespoke matte gray paint with high-gloss silver and yellow accents as well as a graphic depicting Carmichael’s signature, while sitting on 17” wheels. Also, there will be a concept sport bar in the bed, interior cabin yellow accents and Carmichael’s racing number 4 embroidered in the front headrests.
Under the hood, the Colorado Performance is powered by the stock 3.6-liter V6 producing 305 bhp (227 kW) and 269 lb-ft (364 Nm) of torque. Of course, we can expect to learn more about the powertrain when the vehicle gets unveiled in Las Vegas.
