Audi became the centre of a buzz earlier today when they launched an all-new generation of R8 but many were surprised when they learned that the super car is very restricted with its offerings.
This is due to the fact that there will only be one version of the R8 getting produced and it will be powered by a V10 engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This was confirmed by GmbH’s boss, Heinz Hollerweger.
The lad simply claims that they don’t wish for the R8 to come with a cheaper V8 anymore due to the bigger demand for the V10. In addition to that, the R8 won’t be getting a manual transmission option at all as the traditional gearbox has never succeeded to outpace the dual-clutch automatic gearbox on the tracks.
In short, Hollerweger desires for the R8 to perform like a beast at all times and don’t intend to produce a weaker Audi R8. Then again, many might feel that the R8 will sell like hotcakes if Audi is to offer it with a 4L twin-turbo engine too.
