2014 Toyota Prius: Too Thoughtful For Its Own Good

The latest Toyota Prius might be an upgrade in the fight to save the environment as the car comes with improved fuel consumption ratings. Aside from that, the Prius is also a safe vehicle as it is designed to protect the driver and the passengers at all times.

When travelling, the Prius locks the door automatically after the gear hits on Drive. Once the vehicle comes to a complete stop with the Parking gear on, the doors will then unlock. Also, there is no way to toggle the climate control system other than through entering the desired temperature.

For the drivers, this is a massive problem. Not everyone is a fan of automatic locks as they cannot risk making quick runs to the ATM without shutting down the engine. On the downside of things, there is no way to cancel this feature than cutting a hole in your wallet and pay Toyota servicemen to get it done.

Then there is the issue with the climate control system. When at cold weathers, the system detects the temperature inside the cabin and automatically heats it up via the floor ventilations. For those with poor cold resistance, it is a problem as they need the heat to shootout from the dashboard vents. There is a way to get around this and it is through disabling the Auto mode and set the fan manually.

Prius owners appreciates how technology is innovated to assist them further but at times, things can go overboard and there is no manual override to take control of the situation. This is the flaw with the Prius and is also the flaws on most cars today.
