The Toyota Prius has been refreshed with an all-new model but even so, the vehicle still offers the same driving experience. We tested the latest Prius and weren’t at all surprised by its performance.
The 1.8L Hybrid mill produces 98hp and 104ft-lbs of torque that is more or less, like its predecessors. On the other hand, there are some slight improvements to the acceleration as the Prius managed to clock 13.10 seconds in a 0-62mph sprint. There is also a top speed of 111mph in place.
Of course, the Prius is not built as a performance car. Instead, the hybrid vehicle from Toyota is simply a move to save the earth. Well, the Japanese carmaker is spot on as the Prius averages 134mpg in fuel consumption.
The other thing worth noting about the new Prius is its electrical range. Apparently, Toyota has made multiple versions of the vehicle ranging from the standard model to the Prius+, which is the world’s first hybrid MPV. The former offers more range of up-to 15miles thanks to the larger battery pack while the latter has smaller batteries to clear some space for the third-row seats.
As great as everything sounds, it actually hurts to see the Prius retailing at £33,395. Environment-friendly vehicles are simply too costly to own right now. For that same price, we would rather settle for the Volkswagen Golf or any Ford vehicle running on the EcoBoost engine.
