2014 Mazda CX-5 Review: This Is Underrated Along With Underappreciated

If you are in the market for a compact family car then you might want to take the 2014 Mazda CX-5 into account as this is one car that is often underrated along with being underappreciated. It comes with good proportions and it has the Kodo design language, a first for a production car from Mazda.

The 2014 Mazda CX-5 comes packed with plenty of technology and while a lot of cars carry a lot over from the previous generation, this isn’t the case this time around. The car has the SkyActiv engine and this is a 2.0 litre or 2.2 litre diesel which offers 163bhp along with 14:1 compression ratio.

There isn’t a turbocharged in the petrol version and you should expect it to make a lot of noise. If you want a quieter and smoother ride then it is going to have to be the diesel engine, this comes into its own at 1,500rpm to 3,500rpm.

The 2014 Mazda CX-5 offers a good turn of speed and it offers around 61.4mpg and 119g/km of CO2. However to get this you are going to have to make do without the 4WD or the automatic gearbox. The Sport version will cost another £2,200 and this gives you 19 inch alloys, keyless entry, electric heated seating and more.

The Sport version is agile and you do get a mature drive with the 2014 Mazda CX-5. This is perfect for families as it is large and offers plenty of room. There is 503 litre boot space if the seating is up and in the 40:20:40 split this is 1, 620 litres.

The 2014 Mazda CX-5 will be making its way out in May and it will put an end to the CX-7 when it arrives on the market.
