Please excuse us for using a Lord of The Rings inspired title but it fits the Lexus NX300h perfectly. The SUV as launched last month and after careful reviewing the car’s brochure, it only comes with a single engine option.
In detail, the NX300h is powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, together with an electric motor. The main motor is equipped with Atkinson cycle which makes it perfect when combining with the electric mill. This enables the NX300h to generate 147kW of torque instantaneously while also returning an impressive fuel consumption figures.
The entry level NX300h retails at $55,000, and $75,000 for the top-of-the line model. Design-wise, the NX comes with a sharp look with its large grille shaped like a beaker. The front LED headlamps are truly narrow as it slides inward. Also, the NX300h sports a tall window-line that can limit the view for young children.
Despite the many trim levels, we tested the F-Sport 4WD NX300h and it offered a splendid experience. Of course, the fact that the SUV operates on all-four wheels enables it to go off-road but we didn’t do that. After all, we don’t like the idea of spoiling the NX300h’s beauty by driving it on muddy trails. On the other hand, the 4WD system will prove to be really handy for drivers to tackle the wet, snowy roads in the coming months.
Despite the power that comes from the Lexus NX300h, it is not something to please the racing folks. The car is built to offer the ultimate comfort when commuting. Also, the NX300h is meant to bring the driver to their destination in a quick and most efficient way.
There is nothing we can complain about the Lexus NX300h. Despite being categorized with the Range Rover Evoque, the Audi Q3 and BMW X3, the vehicle offers something really different from the entourage and this could be the key to their success in the market.
I mean, who wouldn’t love driving something luxurious while enjoying 5.6L/100km of petrol consumption?
