The Grand Cherokee from Jeep has always been thought as an oversized barbaric vehicle. Well, this perception has now changed after Jeep launched the all-new Grand Cherokee. The vehicle is now redesigned and it looks like a high-end, civilized, executive SUV.
The new Grand Cherokee comes in two trim levels. Both models are powered by the same 3L diesel engine that generates 237hp and 405lb-ft of torque. The first version, called Limited, has a steel suspension set-up while the second version, named Overland, utilizes Quadra-Lift sports air suspension and performance brakes.
The difference in suspension meant that both the Limited and Overland Jeep Grand Cherokee are tailored to meet specific needs. The air suspension Overland, in particular, offers better ride and handling but it is still no match for close rival, the BMW X5.
Performance-wise, the Grand Cherokee offers some interesting stats. It is able to sprint from 0-62mph in just 8.2 seconds, which is better than some luxury SUVs in the market today. There is also a top speed of 126mph in place.
However, it is a mistake to think of the Grand Cherokee as a speedster. The SUV is more of a cruiser thanks to its bulk body, stable stance, ample torque, excellent comfort and low noise level.
In conclusion, the Grand Cherokee is one of the best SUVs in our books. It might not be like the BMW X5, Range Rover Evoque, Porsche Cayenne or the Audi Q7 but it is near that level. Also, it is much cheaper than most luxury SUVs out there.
