Kia had just launched the new Sportage and it is really a good-looking vehicle. The Korean carmaker revealed that the Sportage has gone a long way since it first started and the latest model is able to give other compact SUVs a run for their money. Today, we shall compare the Sportage with the latest CR-V and see if Kia is spot on with their claims.
At a glance, both SUVs is able to accommodate 5-passengers and run on the FWD 2.4L Gas Inline-4 engine. Of course, the quality and the technology of the motor vary by make.
The CR-V, in particular, offers 185hp and 163 ft-lbs of torque. The decently powered SUV is also efficient as well. The CR-V is able to achieve 23mpg on city roads and 31mpg on highways. The power mill is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission to ensure a pleasant driving experience.
The Sportage, on the other hand, offers lesser horsepower but more torque. In figures, the Sportage comes with 176hp and 168 ft-lbs of torque. In terms of efficiency, the Sportage is able to achieve 21mpg on city roads and 30mpg on highways. This clearly says that Honda has got the better tuning as the CR-V is 9.5% more fuel savvy than its Korean counterpart.
In terms of comfort, the CR-V is a level higher than the Sportage. The Japanese SUV has got a bigger interior volume, which means more room for the driver and the passengers. Nevertheless, the Sportage is still able to accommodate five people easily.
When it comes to design, we have to vote for the Spoortage. The SUV is very stylish with its proportionate looks. The CR—V has an awkward appearance due to the stretched and large rear portion.
Then again, looks is not enough to name the Sportage the winner. The victory belongs to the CR-V but the Kia Sportage isn’t that far behind.
