For the first time in the history of Focus, the vehicle is offered with a diesel powertrain. It can be said to be near-identical to the petrol variant with its neat exterior design and simple interior. The differences are kept sealed under the hood.
The Ford Focus STD is powered by a 2L turbocharged diesel engine that offers 182hp and 295lb-ft of torque. This enables the vehicle to sprint from standstill to 62mph in just 8.1 seconds. For a performance vehicle, this is nothing special but for a diesel vehicle, the Focus is one hell of a car.
Also, the STD has a top speed of 135mph. It is simply amazing on how the hatchback comes with similar performance figures with the petrol variant. Despite that fact, the STD is worth the extra due to it, being more fuel efficient than its petrol siblings. In detail, the STD returns up to 67mpg.
The Ford Focus diesel is super alike with the Volkswagen Golf GTD. On the contrary, the former retails at £22,195, which is a whopping £4,000 cheaper than the latter. Of course, Ford has confirmed that there won’t be the ‘D’ added to the ‘ST’ moniker to avoid any misunderstanding.
