iPhone 6 & The Almost Half-Foot WQHD Screen Rumors

The Apple iPhone 6 is said to be arriving in two different screen sizes and this could be in-line with the development of a 5.5 inch display from one of Apples long time suppliers of components.

Japan Display Inc, who is one of the major suppliers of the displays of the iPhone said that they had developed a display at 5.5 inches in Quad HD or WQHD, with a resolution of 1440 x 2560, offering 538ppi. They said the display was for leading edge smartphones. This could mean that the display will be heading to the iPhone 6 when Apple launches it this year.

We have also heard that Apple could launch the iPhone 6 with two different screen sizes. It has been said that these are 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch. A report suggested that Sharp Corporation along with Japan Display and LG Display Co Ltd will make the displays for the iPhone 6 with retina display.

It is thought that the timing of the announcement from Japan Display about the development of the 5.5 inch WQHD display isn’t a coincidence.
