Thanks to comments by Samsung Saudi Arabia things have gone quiet about the KitKat 4.4.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
They said that the Samsung Galaxy S3 international handset with the model number of GT-i9300 with 1GB of RAM would receive KitKat before the end of March. This came after Samsung Poland said that the Samsung Galaxy S3 would not get updated thanks to it having just 1GB of RAM.
Recently Samsung Saudi Arabia did some backpedalling and said that they don’t have plans to update the Samsung Galaxy S3 to KitKat. At the same time they also said that it wouldn’t arrive for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, despite the fact that Samsung U.S. and Sprint, along with Samsung Poland, have announced the update. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 does have 2GB of RAM and so this shouldn’t be the issue.
The KitKat 4.4.2 update is arriving for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 in the US and to at least one carrier in Australia.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 could still get updated to KitKat 4.4 in other parts of the world, however the Samsung Galaxy S3 is looking a bit unstable and the update could be skipped for the international variant due to the 1GB RAM issue.
Of course nothing has been confirmed by Samsung so you do need to take this with a pinch of salt.
