Can you remember the Notion Ink Adam? Well it’s not surprising if you can’t as you could have blocked it from your mind thanks to the issues with shipping which were dreadful along with a build quality that was shocking and DOA software. But the device wasn’t as bad as everyone made out, for its time anyway.
When it did come out the tablet was actually pretty good but it didn’t take off as Notion Ink would have liked it to. Of course Google didn’t help matters as they made a tablet OS and made it very easy for some of the biggest and best names in the industry to come out with tablets that out the Notion Ink Adam in the shade.
However it seems that Notion Ink is not dead and buried. They have now come back and they have announced the Adam II. While the tablet isn’t mindblowing as the first was when that arrived, it doesn’t look as though it will be a terrible tablet this time around, at least on paper.
It is said that the tablet will offer a display of 10.1 inches at 1280 x 800 and be covered with scratch resistant glass from Asahi. It will have the 1.5GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor along with the quad core Mali 400 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The internal storage is 8GB but the tablet can take microSD card up to 32GB. It comes with stereo speakers on the front, a battery of 6,000mAh, support for Wi-Fi N and Bluetooth 4.0.
There are other tablets on the market that have more power but then the price will reflect this.
The Adam II has Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and perhaps the company will install their own apps and custom bits onto this. However, at first glance the tablet doesn’t seem to be too bad at all.
The Adam II does offer a very unique feature and that is it shows notifications along with information along the spine of the device, in text like that you see on a calculator.
The cost of the Wi-Fi version is said to be around 219 Euros with VAT, which comes in at about $300. If you want the 3G version this is 249 Euros, around $340. You can buy yourself a Nexus 7 from $230 or the LG G Pad comes in at $350 at Google Play Store. Therefore the Adam II could have to work hard if it to vie for the attention of tablet fans.
