We recently heard from @evleaks about the Nokia Normandy and now another tipster has leaked the Nokia handset running Android KitKat 4.4.
Last December we heard about Plan B from Nokia which told us that while Nokia has enjoyed success with the Lumia Windows Phone, they have now moved towards an Android handset with the codename of Normandy.
Today we have seen the Normandy on benchmarks from AnTuTu along with a screenshot from a Chinese micro-blogging site, Weibo. This shows us the RM-980 A110 with KitKat 4.4.1 KitKat.
Nokia have a forked version of Android which is not aligned with Google’s version and which follows the approach of Amazon and the Kindle Fire. The screenshot does seem to confirm that the handset is running on KitKat, which is the latest version of OS. The handset could arrive with a dual core processor along with a camera of 5MP on the back.
@evleaks did post three screenshots, which show the Normandy interface, with the handset being a dual SIM device which is thought to be heading to emerging countries including India and China.
The screen-shots also show Skype, Viber and the phone dialer running on the handset, along with the lock screen notifications for the calendar, messages and missed calls. The user interface offers a look that combines the Asha and Windows Phone.
The Nokia Lumia 520 entered into the entry level market and it has been successful thanks to the acquisition of the hardware division by Microsoft, which means that the Normandy might not make it onto the market.
Rumours have been going around about internal documents. The Redmond Company came up with a scenario where users would be able to choose either the Windows Phone or Android when purchasing. It may also be possible to reset the license costs.
