Last year, we witnessed the Android KitKat 4.4 release and HTC was quick to poach on the biggest Android update yet. Now the KitKat version 4.4.2 is out and while the Taiwan-based vendor might want to seal the deal, they’ve faced an unexpected delay.
The Android 4.4.2, meant for the HTC One, is scheduled for a release at the end of January. However, there appears to be some setback involving the US carries that has led to a delay. Amidst this disappointment, the Android 4.4.2 for HTC One has already begun rolling out in other parts of the world like Europe and Canada.
As for the US, the earliest expected date of arrival is now 11 February 2014. This is of course for Sprint. Other networks will soon follow suit. While the delay is disappointing, US HTC One users are actually quick to get their hands on the 4.4.2 update. Despite the fact that HTC promised 90 days which ended on 31st January, it is still considered early. This is due to the fact that HTC is always last when it comes to updating its devices.
President of the HTC America, Jason Mackenzie, came out and announced the bad news. Attached to his announcement is that usual corporate apology. As for what has caused the delay, many suspected it to be with the carriers. After all, the 4.4.2 update did fine with carriers from all over Europe and Canada.
