HTC One Android 4.2.2 Update Rolls Out But Why Bother?

When Android 4.2.2 came out for the HTC One it brought some security enhancements along with cloud printing. While the update was welcomed by owners of the handset some have been asking if it came with a fix for the purple issue which was affecting the camera.

The update made it to Canada where Telus, Virgin, Wind, Rogers and SaskTel are handing out the update for the HTC One.

Owners of the HTC One in the US can get the update thanks to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. The HTC One Sense internationally will get updated and this falls in with talk about the update making its way to the US.

The HTC One X is going to get the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 update and when it does it will be the last. We did get confirmation of this from an executive at HTC who said that the update would come out around the same time as the HTC One was updated to KitKat 4.4.2.

Some features of the update will depend on the carrier and the network; however there are others that all carriers should offer. For instance Sense 5 should be offered along with Cloud Printing, security enhancements, Blinkfeed updates, UI changes, removal of flash and Bluetooth profiles.

One of the biggest problems with the handset which owners have complained about has been the reddish tinge seen on photos taken by the camera. Jelly Bean 4.3 arrived and owners thought that this would put an end to the issues but it failed to do so.

Android and Me talked about how one owners of the handset had questioned if KitKat 4.4.2 would fix the issue. However someone else said that it wasn’t down to software, it was an issue with hardware. The camera unit needed fixing at the HTC Centre.

You can make things a little better by changing the contrast along with the saturation. However it doesn’t remedy it.
