Those who own the HTC One will be getting the KitKat 4.4.2 update and with it will come cloud printing along with enhancements to security. Fans will welcome this there is no doubt, but what they want to know is if the update has fixed the issue with the purple tinge on the camera.
Owners of the HTC One and HTC One Mini over in Canada will receive the update from Virgin, Telus, Bell, Wind, SaskTel and Rogers. Carriers are working on the firmware and it has been said that they will send it out to device owners as soon as possible.
In the US HTC One owners are about to get KitKat 4.4.2 from AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. They will get the update OTA. The HTC One Sense is said to be getting the update in Europe and this is in-line with talk that the update is arriving in the US.
Owners of the HTC One X will get what is said to be the last update to Jelly Bean 4.2.2, which has been confirmed by an executive from HTC. It is said that the update will happen when the HTC One gets updated to 4.4.2.
Of course owners of the handsets can expect to see features based on the network, but there are some that should be on all carriers. These include Sense 5.5, cloud printing, new security enhancements, Bluetooth profiles, support for flash removal, changes to the UI and updates to Blinkfeed.
One of the biggest issues that owners have had with the handset is the red, blue or purple tinge on the camera app which means that photos in low light show off red or purple tints. Jelly Bean 4.3 was sent out to try and fix this issue but it seems that owners are still plagued with this issue. LlabTooFer went on Twitter and put up a photo of Android 4.2.2 change-log but it didn’t say anything about a fix to the camera.
Android and Me pointed out that one owner had asked if KitKat 4.4.2 would fix the issue but it was said that the issue wasn’t down to software, but it was an issue with the camera module, which needed replacing.
Owners of the handset could change the saturation and the contrast in the app to help with the issue.
