Tech fans who have been waiting for the Nexus 10 2 are in for some disappointment. Despite the many rumours, it seems that this giant sequel to the Nexus 10 won’t materialize at all.
It is true that Google is looking to compete in the large-size tablet segment but the company plans to create one that is low-cost and have great mobility. Instead of going 10-inch, Google is settling for an 8-inch tablet.
This is due to the market trend which demands for larger device and at the same time; don’t want it to be bulky and restrictive. As such, an 8-inch Nexus will definitely meet this demand. Even arch-rival Apple is aware of the global trend and plans on creating a 13inch iPad Pro while simultaneously stop the iPad Mini’s production.
Perhaps Google will do some recalculation. Instead of the Nexus 8 being a flat-out 8-incher, Google will make it an 8.9 inch tablet. This upcoming slate from Google is expected to be developed by ASUS.
Word has it that the Nexus 8 will come with the all-new 64-bit Intel processor called Moorefield which was unveiled back in CES, earlier this year. Other rumoured specs include a PowerVR G6430 graphic engine, 4GB RAM, 32/64GB storage, LTE connectivity and a brand new Android OS which is either the Lollipop or the Key Lime Pie.
All in all, the excitement for a Nexus tablet is ever-so exciting. Fans can expect the unveiling of this Nexus 8 during this year’s Google I/O conference later in June 24 and 25.
