There were supposed to be a few Samsung devices that were due to have Jelly Bean 4.2.2 as their last update, like the Galaxy S2 and the Note One. Google brought out Android KitKat last October, and this new OS has a Linux kernel specially for devices with low memory, so have you got a handset that’s about to get KitKat?
Last March, SamMobile posted a list of the Galaxy devices that’ll be getting Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and those that were in line for Android 5 (which we thought was going to be Key Lime Pie but turned out to be KitKat).
The Linux 3.8 kernel in KitKat is full of good things – full support for NVIDIA Tegra, Exynos DRM drivers, flash-friendly file-system support and a low memory footprint, which is important for older devices.
Have a look at this list – are you on it?
