Android 5.1 Failed To Bring Wi-Fi Calling

Google once made a promise to add in a Wi-Fi calling feature and LTE calling feature for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 smartphones but it won’t be coming with the upcoming Android 5.1 update.

This was confirmed earlier today when Google revealed the changelog for Android version 5.1 and it showed no addition of the aforementioned feature. We have also tested the developer’s version of the OS on our Nexus 5 and internet calls are only applicable on HSPA.

Even so, an industry insider claims that Google will still keep their promise. While the Wi-Fi and LTE calling features are unavailable with the Android 5.1, it does not mean that Google is not developing it. The insider revealed that the highly anticipated features will be coming on a separate update instead.

With that being said, Nexus users don’t have to feel too disappointed by this as the features arrival is still inevitable. Of course, this would also mean more wait for the users.
