Volkswagen has confirmed that a new generation of Touran will be launched later this year and it will be followed by the arrival of a new Cross Touran. Today, car junkies can finally get a rough idea on how the latter will be made to appear like after a rendering of it went viral on the internet.
Like how it was pictured above, the Cross Touran concept was developed by Theophilus Chin and the MPV and it is made to appear more aggressive than the standard MPV. The concept image shows that the Cross Touran has a taller driving height and its skirting is painted in black.
Over at the tail section, there is still that single chrome bar that is parallel to the lower diffuser and is also painted in black. This is completed with a new, more angular dual-exhaust system.
Like how it is with the standard Touran, the Cross Touran too is expected to come with the same engine and transmission options. This includes the 1.2 TSI with 110hp, 1.4 TSI with 150hp and 1.8 TSI with 180hp. Diesel motors include the 110hp 1.6 TDI and the 150hp 2.0 TDI.
Consumers will be able to choose between the 6-speed manual gearbox, the 6-speed DSG or the standard 7-speed DSG to pair with the engine of choice. Of course, we can expect VW to spill more details on the Touran and Cross Touran in the near future.
